Hard Road LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the HardRoad mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account Information: If you create an account using Sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address.
- Profile Data: Height, weight, date of birth, and activity level (used solely for nutrition calculations within the App).
- Habit Data: Daily habit completions, journal entries (Examen reflections), vice assessment responses, and prayer activity.
- Workout Data: Exercise logs, workout sessions, weight entries, and progress photos stored locally on your device.
- Food Logs: Nutrition tracking data including food entries and macro calculations.
- Brotherhood Groups: If you join a small group, your display name and anonymized habit completion statistics are shared with group members.
Information Collected Automatically
- Usage Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized usage data such as screens visited, features used, and general engagement patterns. This data does not identify you personally.
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and compatibility purposes.
- Push Notification Tokens: If you enable notifications, we store your device token to deliver reminders.
Information from Third Parties
- Apple HealthKit: If you grant permission, we read weight data from Apple Health and write nutrition data to Apple Health. We never sell or share HealthKit data with third parties or use it for advertising.
- Food Databases: When you search for foods, queries are sent to Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central, and CalorieNinjas to retrieve nutrition information. These services receive your search terms but not your identity.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App's features and functionality.
- Calculate and display your Virtue Points, streaks, levels, and achievement tiers.
- Generate personalized daily schedules, nutrition targets, and liturgical calendar content.
- Sync your data across your devices via Apple iCloud (CloudKit).
- Send you optional push notifications (habit reminders, morning call).
- Display anonymized community statistics on the Brotherhood Dashboard.
- Diagnose technical issues and improve app performance.
We do not use your information to serve advertisements, sell your data to third parties, create advertising profiles, or track you across other apps or websites.
3. Data Storage and Sync
- Local Storage: All habit, workout, nutrition, and journal data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
- iCloud Sync: Your data is synced via Apple CloudKit to your private iCloud account. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
- Server Sync: Anonymized statistics (habit completion counts, not journal content) may be synced to our servers for Brotherhood Dashboard features. This data is transmitted over HTTPS.
- Firebase: We use Firebase Authentication for account management and Firebase Analytics for anonymized usage statistics.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Brotherhood Groups: If you join a small group, your display name and anonymized completion statistics are visible to other group members.
- Service Providers: We use Firebase (Google), Apple CloudKit, and Cloudflare Workers to provide App functionality. These providers process data on our behalf under their respective privacy policies.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
5. Apple HealthKit
If you choose to integrate with Apple HealthKit:
- We read weight entries to keep your nutrition profile current.
- We write nutrition data (calories, macronutrients) for your reference in the Health app.
- HealthKit data is never used for advertising, shared with third parties, or stored on our servers.
- You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in your device's Settings > Privacy & Security > Health.
6. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and Export: You can view all your data within the App at any time.
- Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings > Account > Delete Account & Data.
- Notifications: You can enable or disable push notifications in Settings at any time.
- HealthKit: You can grant or revoke HealthKit permissions in your device settings.
- Analytics: Firebase Analytics collects anonymized data. You can limit ad tracking in your device's Privacy settings.
7. Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as you maintain an active account. If you delete your account, we delete your data from our servers within 30 days. iCloud data is managed by Apple's retention policies. Anonymized, aggregated statistics may be retained for analytics purposes after account deletion.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.
9. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for all data transmission, Apple's built-in encryption for local and iCloud storage, and secure authentication via Sign in with Apple and Firebase Authentication.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, through an in-app notification.
